Gaze Hazy. No need to stay awake. This War is crazy. Create my own Space. Even if it's only in my head. I still believe that I'm stronger than the US Military. My Darling. We've got it in our hands. You are glowing. Emit your stance. Even if it's only in my head. I do believe. Even if it's only in my head we do believe were stronger than military, we've got more clout than the monetary, if we believe in our own sovereignty. Baby. Maybe, we could relax and dig this frequency. Entrenched Daydream. Step lightly on this earth. Careen Freely. Stop my search. even if it's only in my head I do believe. And If it's only in my head does that make me crazy. If it's only in my head we do believe. Even if it's only in my head I FEEL FREE.

I saw my baby there. With the fire lit in her eyes. She knew the way to tease. Oh what a nice suprise. She layn beneath the blanket the and then I found. I layed beneath the blanket there and then she found with our hearts abound. She said that I was loving her. She said that I was kissing her. She said that I am everything. She said that I am the one that she's been waiting for. She says that I am everything, but I know that she's crazy. And it keeps me coming back for more.

There's a clown in the rainforest and he's got a chainsaw in his pocket. He say "I gotta do what I gotta do to rup up that profit." And I says "How can you exploit the world when we are all of the same grace?" And He says "Boy you'll soon learn that getting the most for yourself first is the earth's only worth." This man degrades. He knows nothing of the broad waves. That connect all those living. So all he'll take to the grave is some peace he never made. Caught somewhere between ego and insecurity. He's heralded for what most cal ingenuity. And I says "How can we rebuild the world when people idolize your being?" And he Says "Boy you'll soon learn that getting the most for yourself first is your only worth." We can't let him lead as he's forgotten how to connect to other living things. But he can find it in the laughter of a child. He can find it in the refuge of the wild. He can find it on the wings of an albatross. He can find it if he's not afraid of loss.

The songs in the Harvest Collective's first Mixtape-- The Art of Living; Volume 1-- were all recorded with a portable digital recorder with one take. I did post-production using a free-downloading program called audacity and this accounts for some of the low-fi/high end that is inherent in most of the tracks. (sorry) My technology will improve sometime in the near future. The quality of the recordings is not optimal, however being able to catch a moment in time wherever I was was the primary purpose of the mixtape. After listening back to what I had recorded for what I thought would be only myself I thought "Hey what the hell; they don't sound that bad I'll just put them online for free somewhere so people can check them out." Thus here they are... This is Forest ROck.

Most of these songs are "freestyles" as they were not rehearsed and were created in one take. I have not taken much time to try and recreate these songs as their coming to existence in that moment is enough to satisfy my artistic integrity. The rehearsed or composed songs on this mixtape include "Awaken Daydream withU", "One", "Sour Note", "Adam Smith (For your Father)", and "Monongahela." I wrote all of these songs with exception of Monongahela which was written by my good friend Sam Bosco as a tribute for two of our friends that passed away in the summer of 2007.

This is not meant to be a serious endeavor. These tracks are a testament to the mind I have been occupying for the last three months. I think I am coming out of the insanity that is these songs to get formulas and structure back into my music and life. These songs are a testament to spontaneous culture through active creation; an anti to the masses that spend too much time carefully planning their life rather than just enveloping and creating the most of every moment. This is my artistic FUCK YOU to those who spend their whole life waiting and planning on how they are going to make loads of money in the world instead of just enjoying every moment they have in the world. Give it a listen a couple of times; If you listen to it too much you might go as insane as I already am. It's a great place to be, but I would wait for the more professional recording to really listen to my music. Then we'll go insane with proper production.

I'm getting into the studio within the week to begin recording my first solo album "Dear Thom; discovering the Love and Tao". I am also a month away from finishing my old band's, Lonely Are The Brave, full length album. It is one of the most politically radical album's I have ever heard. Get your ears ready for Combat Rap!!!! The sustainable revolution is underway. Play your part in it's beautiful symphony. I'll meet you halfway, somewhere enveloped in the moment with my guitar, a bag picking up litter and my smile. I'll be playing rehearsed songs every Friday night at the Berwyn Cafe in College Park, Maryland in December starting at 6 PM.

The songs recorded on this compilation were recorded at the following locations:

1). In the forest behind Lucienne Binker-Dale and Liz Van Every's house outside of Ithaca, New York. (2, 5, 8, 9, 17, 21)

2). On the Piano inside Liz and Lucienne's house. (7, 18)

3). The Good Hope Forest located 100 yards away from where The Inter County Connector is being built near Colesvlile, Maryland (4, 11, 16, 22, 23, beginning of 10)

4). In Rebecca Morrison's kitchen in College Park, Maryland. ( 3, end of 10)

5). In Devin Mcknight, Dario Olacea and Andy Chevernak's apartment in Boston, Massachusetts. (6, 20)

6). Outback Justin French's family cottage near Darmariscotta, Maine. (19)

7). The side of Camel's Hump Mountain in Vermont. (1)

8). Sam Bosco's apartment in Ithaca. New York. (13,14)

9). In front of the EPA Head Quarters in Washington, DC. (15)

10). And lastly my bedroom in Silver Spring, MD. (12)

Somehow I must give due Credit to the players who happened to be at these places when I recorded.

The people playing drums at the drum circles I recorded were Eric J. Lewis, Sean McCutcheon, Billium Reed, Andrew Stone, Claire Moriarty, Jared??, Andrew Stone, Jesse Stern, and Nicole Omert. I know I'm leaving some people out, but it was hard to keep track of anything besides the grooves on those nights. Eric lent vocals on Bury Me Beneath The Asphault.

The two songs recorded in Boston had Garrett Eaton (lead guitar on Is it Overflowing? and rhythm guitar on Berklee Smoke Session) and Andy Chevernak (Bass for both) holding it down. Devin Mcknight played guitar at the end of Berklee Smoke Session when I started singing. Dario Olacea played the glass bottle on Berklee Smoke Session.

Sam Bosco wrote Monogahela. He also played rhythm and sang on the track. The kid in Aurora Borealis is the cutest three year old in the Universe Aurora Bosco.

The EPA jam was two guys. I know one of there names was Joe--playing the fiddle. I don't know what the guitar players name.

I don't remember the cat's name..... But it was a black kitten that belonged to Liz.
